Thanks, Guys.

Funny you should mention leaks, as that was one of my motivations for the change. I had a set of GMPP chrome stamped steel valve covers on the these Vortec heads. I got fed up with leaks around the PCV and breather grommets. Also, those covers use a stupid push-in oil fill cap, and after trying 3 different caps, I couldn't find one that actually pressed in tight. After exposure to oil and heat, everyone could be knocked out with a light tap from the index finger. After losing one on a drive and oiling down the right side of the engine, I decided they needed to go.

As much as I'd like to run early perimeter bolt valve covers, I'm staying away from the adapters, as I hear they always leak too. I HATE leaks, so I'll live with functional covers that might not look the best.

BTW.. this is not a late model crate engine. It's a '69 Tonwanda '388' casting 350 block with Vortec heads (note the wide engine stamp pad as only found on earlier blocks). I chose the Vortecs as they fit my performance goals the best. I never liked the fact that I was forced to use centerbolt covers, but I'll take function over appearance.
