I don't think it is a stupid question at all. I don't think there is a real answer. Some guys call the small gauges 2 1/8" and others call them 2 3/8". Some call the large gauges 2 5/8 and others call them 2 3/4".The difference is one measurement is the hole size the gauge fits in and the other is the outer diameter of the bezel. Jason
