If the stripes pictured are original there are a variety of issues in plant to cause a minor deviation like that.

If that is the way it was I would leave it as is.

IMO..With each car that gets reworked to meet the "normative practice" more of the authentic and unique human influenced detail of the build is then lost to history - forever.

I agree 100%...

Here is an early 9B LA never restored original owner Z with the narrow 68 Style rear stripe layout.
