Bringing a car in from Canada for the show

In order to help some potential entries make the border crossing trouble-free, could someone please provide a checklist of things to have or be aware of if they plan to bring a car in from Canada for the show? (both ways)
I'm working on registering a rare 409 car from Canada and I'd like to offer the owner the best advice to make the crossing go as smoothly as possible.

Great plan Verne, I will also be bringing a car from Canada.

I will share whatever I find out, and look forward to any info available.

I may be interested in sharing transportation costs if anyone is bringing a 2 car trailer with only one car in it.

Us customs have a catagory for bringing a vehicle into the states for "show and tour" purposes for up to one year. This is assuming a car may be doing more than one show. For one show only, there is nothing required if you bring the car over the border yourself other than ensuring you have a current Canadian provincial title. You might want to check with a customs broker if the car is consigned to a carrier to leave Canada.
I took my 66 to MCACN in 2013, trailered it over the border and shipped it with Reliable from Blaine WA, Other that a few questions from the customs guy as to about was I receiving any compensation for displaying the car and if the transportation cost was paid for (no and No) by the show.
I have taken cars to Seattle shows for years with no issues.

Thanks Paul, always great to get input from a participant that has actually gone through this. Occasionally, I will get a call to verify the information, which of course, I am happy to provide.

We need to see a &quot;real&quot; Canadain car at a show, with Polyglas Snow Tires (i have a pair) Block heater, Frost shields,(with GM logo) Winter wiper blades. Make a great theme for a &quot;regional display&quot;

I was afraid it might more complicated than that. The owner of the car also has a home in AZ and he may be going there with the car for the winter after the show. Does that present any problems since it won't be a short round trip back to Canada?

Should not be a problem, Canadians bring collector cars to AZ a lot, My 66 spent 9 months there before I sold it,that was a different story however AZ DMV deals with &quot;Snowbirds&quot; bringing in cars a lot.

If a vehile is in the states for several months, Canadain customs will want to know if any work was done on it when they bring it back. Owner should obtain a current appraisal before the car leaves Canada, this will be beneficial to him in many ways.
