I'm not following either, is there an issue with the stripes or.... There were 10 citrus Deuce's produced, with 6 remaining (4 4speeds & 2 a/t's), so any info or update on one is welcomed.

Ah! Deuce Heaven is the nickname given to Schonenthaler Restorations in IA since he has restored a fair number of Deuces. I think there might be license plates that have this as well.....

| Re: Yenko Deuce Pics

Back to the regularly scheduled program. There are two Citrus Deuces in this thread. Phil's Deuce and Bob's Deuce. Both 4 speeds and both believed sold out of Sam Leman Chevrolet in Roanoke, Illinois. They Both ran around in the same area, so the stories have been intertwined. I was referred to the original owner of Phil's Deuce, Larry Bayer. Super nice guy and at 67, seems to have a very good Memory. He confirmed that at age 21-22, just back from Vietnam, that he went to Leman to purchase the Deuce. He said that they had three, Red, Yellow and Citrus Green and picked the CG because it was the only 4 speed Deuce. (He said there was only one 4 speed at the dealership at that time.) He said that he added headers and traction bars and within two years traded the car to Whitmore Chevrolet in Ottowa on a new Vega GT Wagon. He said his car was purchased by Bumgard's who owned the local Nappa auto parts store. Later on Larry did build a clone of his Old Deuce, with painted stripes and it's still in Ottowa, Illinois. I did invite him to MCACN and he says he plans to be there. |
