Great information…I have always thought the 71 W-30s were required to carry the M-22. However, it makes sense that they would also offer alternatives. I have read before that one of the 1970 Rallye 350 cars carried an M-22 from the factory according to the Olds Historical Center. Then did Oldsmobile also offer the M-22 on the 1970 W-30, as an optional transmission for those in the know? I have also heard that many drag racers actually preferred the M-21 to the M-22.
