All the info I have gathered shows ANY 1971 W30 car I have ever gathered info had the M22. Thats not to say there were not some that got the M20. I have heard of one instance where a regular 442 had a M22 however according to spec sheets it appears a W30 could be ordered with either trans as could a regular 442. A friens 72 W30 has an M20.
