| 1969 Camaro Pace Car Tach Question

Many years ago, I used to own a real 396/375 pace car convertible. It had a very unusual tach that I have never seen since. It was a 7000 Tach with a 6000 yellow line and 6500 redline. Yes a 6500 redline, not a 6000 redline. Is this unique to certain 396/375 car's such as L89's? I have seen other 396/375 cars but they have the 6000 redline tachs like Z-28's. Any thoughts on why this Pace Car had a 6500 redline? I've been puzzled about this for years. Thanks |

I have seen 6500 red line tachs in the very late 69 Z28's..... its also in jerry macneish' book as well as a very late production item. My 69Z is a 10D car with the 6500 tach

There was a 6500/8000 tach but it did not exist when Z11s were in production. Maybe yours was later replaced under warranty.

Jerrys book doesn't mention any 7000 tach with a 6500 redline, those he mentions with 6500 redlines are 8000 tachs and were introduced in late Oct-69 i.e. very uncommon! Do you have a picture of your tach? Partnumber? (should be on the back) Jan |
