I, too had a Beetle...not a Super Beetle, though Gary (my brother) had a special edition &quot;La Grande&quot; one.

Gary Berg's girlfriend lived in the same apartment complex that we did. I also remember Gary racing against a 426 Hemi Challenger (that was at the Angelo's cruise in Anaheim) for a couple of hundred bucks...off of Mira Loma in Anaheim.

The race wasn't even close...as Gary had a 2180 that was fully built. It lifted the tires in the first 3 gears. The first clue should have been the shorty wheelie bars [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif[/img]
