The price i said, would be for resale. If i was to buy to keep, i would have a hard time paying anymore than 40K. We all know that taking a car out of storage can cost to make it road worthy again. Also the seller may not have been in the market for years, and not realize how the economy effects the collector market prices. Collector car sales are slow and difficult at best. Price drops here to sell, and epay and dealers, websites and newspapers. It is an incredible buyers market for those who can buy and ride it out. Roger

Here's the information on the 68Z I used to own. Keep in mind this was sold when the market was booming: 68Z ad from 2006. If you click on the link for pictures, I've added a lot of other stuff since then so pics of the Z start on page 5.

The only Super-Chevy car show I've been to was the Pomona 1998. I'm guessing 1000 cars in attendance, and not one original paint survivor. I'm guessing there's even fewer 11 yrs later.
Cars like this are the ones to own,and unfair to price it as a normal everyday car.

I have to chuckle here for a second. All the cars that I have been interested in buying sure haven't come down in price! I asked about this a few months back. Just where are all of these so called deals at? Any car that has been for sale on this site hasn't been a "steal", has it?

Rather than responding seperately in two posts I have combined these:

"The only Super-Chevy car show I've been to was the Pomona 1998. I'm guessing 1000 cars in attendance, and not one original paint survivor. I'm guessing there's even fewer 11 yrs later.

I agree. However the "survivor" paint has to be nice enough to be "respectable" at the Saturday night parking lot show. Otherwise the owner soon tires of hearing "why don't you paint it." No point in paying "extra" for a survivor that you will end up painting soon after you buy it.

"I have to chuckle here for a second. All the cars that I have been interested in buying sure haven't come down in price! I asked about this a few months back. Just where are all of these so called deals at? Any car that has been for sale on this site hasn't been a "steal", has it?"

Right on.

So many people get the idea that because of the low bid prices of unsold/reserve not met cars on the highly viseable Ebay, that these car are only worth the high bid. Many people simply use Ebay as a marketing tool and don't really expect that it will sell there. You can't blame potential buyers for trying to steal something in a down turn market. OTOH, unless you HAVE to sell there are no deal to be had. Most people that have rare desirable cars will hold them unless they get what they want for them. It still all boils down to supply and demand. If you WANT a certain car you either pay the price or see if you can build a clone to satisfy your need. Most are finding that in todays market they are better off buying a REAL car. The clone is only worth at best the sum total of its parts and in this market could not sell the done clone car for what they have in it, sometimes 1/2 of that.

Didn't you buy the Harrell 70 Camaro??? I spoke to the owner a few months before that car was sold, and I thought the price was a steal. I imagine the car was sold for even less than I could have bought it. That car dropped considerably in price from when the seller was first offering the car for sale. If my finances were a little better at the time, that car would be in my garage.

awesome car...the pinnacle of 70 Camaros

For me and maybe others, the automatic is a killer. Still a fantastic one of a kind car.
For those of you that have or know of a nice survivor, solid lifter car with low miles for 30-35k,just send me a pm. I'm not in the market, but for that price, I'll take them all.

I hear ya....of the 11 early Camaros that I've owned this year, not one is an automatic...all 4 speeds and all but one solid lifter cars...but I was thinking of making an exception on that car....6k mile survivor....454 solid lifter...Dick Harrell...1 of 1
