Break it, install it, and then un-break it.
![]() Did the 69 Nova not have the same rubber molding holding the mirror in, as the 69 Camaro? If so, it's fairly easy to remove, and replace. I soaked mine in some hot water to soften it. |

Hello,
If it is original there is a flat metal snap ring holding the glass in. It can be taken out with care. It there is no snap ring then it is later GM or Repro. Greg

I do not think the Camaro mirror ever had the retaining ring like the round Nova mirror's..

I think the snap rings were used in the sideview mirrors as opposed to the rear view mirrors?

Yes, they were used in the "Round" sideview mirrors, production and old NOS.
But has anyone seen them on a 69 Camaro "Rectangular" mirror, my guess is not. |
