You can wash the Jute out if you really want to. I own a professional drying service like a Service Master and we have done things like this before.

Take the carpet out, flush it real well with fresh water like from a city water source (not well water) with a garden hose. Flush it out for 10-15 minutes, and get something heavy to roll the excess water out of it. Then get some commmercial air movers and blow dry it. It should take a day or two for it to dry. After its dry, we usually go back with some good prespray and clean it with our van mounted machine.

This is how we clean thick old Tebetan, Kermiths and Karastan rugs.
