Since Chevrolet only kept records of individual rpo's produced and not combinations, we can only use interpolation, extrapolation or WAG's or any combination there of.
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] So where'd the 'less than 100 Z11 L78's" production # in the Spurlock article originate from? [/ QUOTE ] Being a numbers geek who was born a little too late, the next best thing for me was to read magazines in the 1980s. I remember that article very well, and I can tell you that there was a lot of speculation on production figures when there was never anything concrete. You still see these things today - take the "1 of 18" LS6 ragtop claim. Where did it originate? I don't know if anyone knows for sure - never been a Chevy guy, so it's certainly beyond my paradigm - but you still see the claim from over 20 years ago. In other words, no one back then had a clue how many of these Z11 L78 cars were built because, for one thing, no one knows how many L78 ragtops were built. "100" is a perfectly round number, and chances are there is another car out there receiving the same claims. If you are able to see that the claims are based on 20 year-old speculation, you can probably conclude it's all BS. [/ QUOTE ]
