I love that Survivor '69 Chevelle COPO. Could you imagine walking onto a dealer lot in very late 1969 and seeing a left-over '69 COPO 427 Chevelle sitting with new 1970 model LS-6's! That would be an incredibly hard choice to make and I honestly don't know which one I would have picked. It's just fun to dream I guess!

It's really nice to see someone actually driving one of these cars on the street. That is what they are meant for. Sitting in a museum is a crime, or at least should be.
I know exactly what it was like walking onto the dealer's lot in '69. I bought our car in mid August '69 and only a couple of weeks later I found out that a 450 hp 454 was coming out in the '70 Chevelle. I was a little disappointed at the time, but once I got the carb and distributor sorted out, the car performed very well. There was a COPO Camaro and three Chevelles sold in the area. Mine was the last one, so there wasn't an opportunity to compare the L72 and LS6 on the same lot at the same time. Beare Motors did sell at least two LS6 Chevelles. One was sold locally and the othere one went to Thunder Bay I believe. It's nice to see Grady carrying the torch....with the ladies. ![]()
