That car looks like its been painted to me which would take away the survivor status to me. Wrong stripe also.

$35K seems high to me, as is isn't an SS427 or 4 speed. The paint looks way too glossy to be original, but if it is I would say this car is more around $25K.

The pic shows a more shiny finish than it actually is. The paint shows the typical flaws that you would see on an original car. I also paint gauged it and while I don't recall the numbers I got, they were in line with my original Hemi Challenger and some of the other known survivors I have had in this shop.

One more. This one shows a view of the unprotected metal of the parking brake mechanism which is usually always at least surface rusted.

Thanks again for the replies

P-1 cowl stamp..Nice! Must be a Tarrytown car I can see better the condition of the paint by that picture too. Does the car have any original docs? I'm curious where it was sold originally. Amazing condition for a car from Jersey.

GOOD FOR YOU! My 67 rides like a dream. I really enjoy rolling down the highway with the 427 and 2.73 gears.... Maybe one day I can see it. I'm Exit 4!!!

It all depends on how they were used and cared for. I have 2 lifelong Jersey cars that are both completely rust free. (and they're 5 years older than the topic SS396).
I have a '69 El Camino that grew up in GA and AL. It's had floor pans and the fenders and quarters are bubbling.

And as far as black paint is concerned, IF it had been repainted it would NOT look as black and deep as it does now. Since the '80s, no one has made a black paint as BLACK as the factories used back then. I've had my old beater, original paint black car next to a fresh $60K black paint job, and that car looks brownish-gray compared to mine.

This paint is 47 years old. If I had it repainted, it wouldn't look this good.
