6223 is the 396 crank and the 7115 is the 427 crank. [/ QUOTE ] Kim, Not exactly. I know for a fact that many, if not all, of the L/71 engines used the '6223 crankshaft. I'd bet that the L/72's did as well. L/71's, L/72's, and L/78's all shared a very similar, if not exact piston dome. I believe that the '7115 crankshaft ( aside from the actual inherant strength ) has beefier counterweights because the L-88 & ZL-1 pistons had monster domes. I've never heard of a '7115 crank being factory installed in anything but the badest of the bad. Unless I'mwrong, that = L-88 & ZL-1 ![]()
