Thinking of doing a day 2 Build on my 69 Camaro. I have a 454 .030 with 11-1 TRW pistons Any suggestions for a hot street cam Hydraulic Flat tappet , ? Suggestions for Aluminum Cylinder Heads? And Headers that will fit? Car does have P/S Thks for your help Tom

I love the solid flat tappets over the hydraulic, the key being quality rockers and polylocks.
Howards offers a great hot street sft cam, it's 238 duration and around 550 lift. Have that cam in the '69 SS and a copy of it custom ground in my '66 L72 vette. Love them both. If anything, next time I'll go a step hotter. Both engines are around 9.4 compression. |

We used a Comp 305 magnum in my brother's LS6 many years ago. That was a hot engine in a '69 Z28.
I used a Comp CB XE284H-10 in my 427 for a while. It was a good cam, but I just don't like hydraulic lifters, so I switched it for a solid.

Freddie .... you have a lot of knowlege of Big block stuff What header will fit the best with power steering that wont be excessive cost?

I wish I could help you with that, but my car doesn't have power steering. I'm sure that my Hooker Super Comp headers wouldn't clear power steering. I helped a friend build a '69 Camaro with a 454 and he used some shorty headers. I think the were Headman. They did clear his power steering.

Hooker Super competition DO NOT clear power steering.
Hooker Competition fit but are close at the box. There is another thread on this somewhere Gary
