1968 Beaumont SD 396
Hi Yenko.net!
Been awhile since I’ve been back here on the forums. Wondering if anyone has much information on this 68 that was recently posted for sale. It’s quite a unique colour combination, Burnished Metallic, parchment roof, gold vinyl interior. Shame the car was restored and colour changed. I came across some older looking pictures on page 27 in one of the threads here, what looks like possibly the same car? Though the top is black in these older pictures. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...140679&page=27 |

Burnished Brown would be a very rare color for a Beaumont, and I don't think I've ever seen one with power windows or factory 8 track.
If you're thinking of buying it I would suggest getting your own GM of Canada Vintages services document kit. |

My 68 SD came with a factory 8 track player. I have it but never installed it.

The car in the picture is not the same car as the yellow car and it hasn't been for sale for 47 years. I found the car for my brother in 1976 and purchased it from him in 1986. We did a body on restoration a few years ago as it didn't need much as it only has about 75,000 miles on it; basically put it back to the original colour, vedoro green and clean it up under the hood. In that picture the colour was SS Jade Gold Metallic because my brother liked that colour better than the original. The reason it looks like the Burnish Brown is the sun was quite bright and the picture was taken with an inexpensive camera by a not so good photographer, me, behind my house at 27 West St., in Brantford,Ontario. I have two sets of GM Vintage Services docs for it, the first set in 86 when Dave Lowe was doing them and then when I was going to get another vehicle done a few years later the individual advised me that the newer docs included a lot more information, hence the second set. The car in your picture is a 396-350 hrs, posi, auto, ps, pb., tach and guages, wood grain dash, cruise, AM-FM, pw, fibre optics, rear defroser, tinted glass, vinyl top and redline tires. The car still retains all of its original chrome pieces and displays really well. The sixteen pieces of side chrome are impossible to find so if you buy an original without them, you will not likely find any. I have been going to swap meets for over 50 years and since 1976 had always kept my eyes open for any extra pieces, just in case. I never saw one piece for sale ever. If I could post pictures of the car now I would, however that isn't an easy thing on this site. I doubt I have put 1,000 miles on that car since 1986. This last sentence usually brings the nasties out asking me why I don't sell it to someone so they could enjoy it. What possibly makes someone think I don't enjoy my cars? So, if you are looking for the yellow car, this one is not it.
