That 3100 has similar proportions as a 49 and later Studebaker C cab. I am pretty sure there are a few Studebaker bodies on S10 chassis. Obviously not MY experience, BUT you might look in the Studebaker world for examples.
See no reason an LS would not work. Most logical choice for a rear would be a 9 inch, as you can have them built to just about any spec.
