S-10/1950 Chevy Pickup...
1 Attachment(s)
One of my local car buddies who owns a cigar shop is looking to build a pickup using an S-10 long bed chassis and a 1950 3100 step-side body. He has just purchased the chassis and a bunch of parts...no driveline.
I was wondering if a 5.3 with O/D trans would work in this setup..??? and what rear would be a good choice. Not sure yet of the year of the S-10 frame. He has the 3100 truck now...older resto, 6cyl, 3spd...not very road friendly. Wants to build something he can enjoy driving. Anyone who has experience or comments on this...please send it along. Thanks, -wilma |
That 3100 has similar proportions as a 49 and later Studebaker C cab. I am pretty sure there are a few Studebaker bodies on S10 chassis. Obviously not MY experience, BUT you might look in the Studebaker world for examples.
See no reason an LS would not work. Most logical choice for a rear would be a 9 inch, as you can have them built to just about any spec. |
