Default 1969 Camaro front fender engine number location?

I have seen several different front fender engine emblem locations. Are they sapose to be perfectly level with the side marker light or just slightly below?

Thanks Doug

Doug,

You are correct. I have seen it both ways as well. I did
some checking and here is what I came up with. In the 69
factory assembly manual, it shows the stripe break in
relation to the side marker hole and calls for a 0.300 gap
from the top of the side marker hole to the top of the
break in the stripe. The bottom measurement is called out
as 0.270 ( reference ). This is most likely due to
manufacturing tolerances in the side marker hole stamping.

The emblem was centered in the stripe break. In all honesty, 0.030 doesn't amount to spit where emblem placement
is concerned. +/- 1/32" is probably normal for emblem
placement.
