On a 70 Chevelle how is the trim on the 1/4's and Dutchman panel secured?
Did Vinyl top cars have those nail heads spot welded on them at the factory to attach everything? I looked at a 70 yesterday that was born with a V-top but since removed and found no evidence of it looking up into the 1/4's and under the Dutchman panel so was curious. Thanks Ron

Not one person knows if a Chevelle has those nail head rivets to secure the vinyl top trim or another method?

Rick Nelson in Pleasant Plains , IL., is a Chevelle expert, check with him, I bet he will know.

Yes, there are rivets and plastic clips until you hit the rear corner trim and end spears before the door. Both of those are thru holes. I've removed many many sets....

Thanks Big so I guess that's why I saw no evidence in the trunk of mounting hardware.
This particular car had such bad fitment between the trunk lid and quarters that it had me thinking the 1/4's may have been heavily repaired or replaced. Ron

Ron,
Definitely held on with nail head studs that were welded onto the panels except the die cast corners which are bolted down through the panels as well as the end spears. Chris |

Thanks everyone for the help. Although I'm a Mopar Guy I always loved 70 SS so now that my buddy wants one I'm trying to get better informed!
