Default Best modern paint mix -'66 Aztec Bronze -"M"?

I bought Rainer's '66 396 Caprice 2dr HT, and its an original M-M Aztec Bronze/Bronze car. Its apparent to me that this is one of those colors with a lot going on, color and sunlight wise, and probably is hard to duplicate properly. If anyone has some insight on a good modern BC/CC mix that does it justice, please post or PM me.

I also need to have a set of seat covers done in the original Bronze material. SMS has fabric, but I can't find anyone that does finished covers ala Impala SS. If anyone has some info to share on whether CARS, PUI, etc, have tooled up for anyone, please let me know. If anyone has an NOS set in their attic, you can share that as well.

Tom your entering the Bermuda triangle when playing with that car, you might try over at ChevyTalk and drop in, there was some cool big car guys and they had sources for stuff, unless things have changed recently your going to have to do the interior on your own from scratch, very cool car your doing btw,

I guess it depends on what you are expecting. Paint formulas have changed a lot over the last 40+ years and then there is the base coat clear coat thing. I personally like the look of the way they were when new rather than the two stage paints of today that has the wet look.

Unfortunately many places won't sell lacqure (sp) paint anymore and many shops won't spray it if you have it.

If you are trying to match the actual color the car WAS from the factory, find some paint that was not effected by the sun from under the trunk or carpet, etc. for a color match. I recently talked to a guy that had 5 different factory showroom color books and the color he was looking at was slightly different shades in each book. That is what we saw on the cars too back in the day.

I am sicken by what many shops consider to be acceptable for a paint job due to what they see from the new factory paint with all of the orange peel. I had a discussion about this with a body shop not too long ago. They seem to think that as long as the clear coat is smooth it is OK. I asked what about all of the orange peel UNDER the clear coat, and they just give you a blank stare. I said "it is this visual statement of the car not just the feel of the paint when you run your hand over it."

I received the paint from the company listed above. I dusted a light coat over light gray primer just to see how it looks. It is fairly close to the inside of trunk and door jambs. I will use a darker primer and test another area. Don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone know the correct primer color that would be under Olympic Gold on a 69 nova ?
Thanks in advance.
