Rear axle rubber bumpers

Purchased a new set of rubber pieces from HBC - sooooooo, what is the trick to getting these darn things on? Virtually impossible - so far!

What type of lubricant are you using?

These are for 68/69 camaro -

The old ones when i removed them are way more pliable than the new repo ones.

I have used silicone spray, grease....

U cannot compress the sides of the triangle area of the snubber (where it secures itself to the bracket) AND insert it into the bracket......

i did not try, but the old ones will most likely compress easily enough and slide in the bracket with a little grease or silicone.

Im changing them because one fits loosely and freshing up the wheel well area.

Advise?

I recall the struggle during my COPO restoration but can't quite recall the process other than using liquid dish soap as the lubricant. I may have posted something in my thread about it - getting old causes details to fade into oblivion. I just had to do the center one as the outsides were original and still good - they went in easy!
