1967 Chevelle SS Pressure PS hose

Should this hose have a rubber or foam wrap over the hose to protect from damage? Was this hose made like this originally?

Found conflicting wrap info on the net while searching for a good replacement for one that sprung a leak.

Thanks.

No, just the hose. It comes VERY close to the inner fender, and original cars almost always have the paint rubbed off the inner fender by the hose. But no protective wrap.

Others may have correct ones now, but it used to be that Ground Up was the only vendor offering the correct shaped 66-67 Chevelle 396 (and 65 Z16) PS pressure hose. It actually passes under the pump and then comes up between the pump and the pulley. Many vendors sell an incorrect one that routes entirely behind the pump.

Any pics of this hose, Jeff. I added PS to my '66 a while back and had a HECK of a time finding a hose that even worked. The one on there now looks like spaghetti as it winds around.

Thanks Jeff.

Attached is a visual of what Jeff said, both survivor original and a Ground Up repro.

Thanks, Bill. It does look similar to what I have, but I'll have to look at mine. It's been a while
