restore fuel lines?
 

I have gotten a BB fuel line with Y-block and bracket orig off a 69 Chevelle that was taken off in first couple years I have cleaned it with laquer thinner but wondering what would be safe as not to destroy the original finish on it? I was thinking scotchbrite but that may be too much- fine steel wool?

I would think 0000 steel wool with WD40/Liquid Wrench for lube would work well...shouldn't leave any scratch marks. Of course, some of the resto gurus may have a better plan.

Scotchbrite or steel wool will both put a polish on them so I do not use either. I soak mine in Nutro-Rust or the equivalent. However, I have never tried cleaning brass in there so not sure of it will clean that up.

SS427 say something like Evaporust?
Wilma that sounds like would work but finding the material or somethat that would spray it may be an issue
I wonder how Tarn-X would do on the block?

0000 steel wool. will dull back up good enough. if it is not a one of one car I would not hesitate to use the steel wool.

A very dull and oily wire wheel brass or steel VERY light touch. The worn wheel wont scratch it (start with a fine grade wheel) and the oil in the wheel leaves a natural patina to it.
NOTE: oil and dirt from dirty parts on the wheel work best. I keep one wire wheel in the shop for initial clean up of hardware and it stays with a fresh coat of oil/dirt to do the trick.

Yes to Evaporust and plastic media works REALLY good. Just hard to find someone to do it in a lot of areas of the country.
