Time waster/stupid question.

Let's say all 3 cars were very well restored to an identical standard and they were all optioned the same and in the same condition.

Which would you rather have?

1970 Chevelle SS LS6/4spd with a non matching numbers engine block
1970 Chevelle SS LS5/4spd with a matching numbers engine block
1970 Chevelle SS LS5/4spd with a 1970 LS6 engine

I would rather have the matching #'s LS5 car although I believe the non matching #'s LS6 car would be more valuable(correct me if I'm wrong on the value).

is the LS6 documented? are any or all of them documented?

Does 'Matching #'s' mean restamp or original engine?
Is the engine w/ #3 an original engine from another LS6 car or just built to LS6 specs:hmmm:
Either way, I'd choose #1 if an original LS6/4-Spd. car w/ engine MIA.

I'd take the LS5/M22 car with the original engine and agree the LS6 would be the most valuable if documented.

The NOM LS6 would be my obvious Choice ,For pure King of the Hill, Beat on it pleasure without worry of hurting the #'s matching/Born with motor. And that's not even taking the desirability/value of it into consideration !

Each car has all docs.

#3 has the engine from #1.

You can't buy #3 and then go after #1 because when you get one the other two don't exist.

So like real life, car #2 w/ Matching #'s needs scrutiny to determine if original engine or restamp?:hmmm:

Has it really come to this?

The OP sets up a simple question and members are focusing on docs or re-stamps, etc.

I was only pushing the matching #'s point as many still feel this indicates THE original engine when it absolutely does not unless proven otherwise...sorry but carnut4life's post above is a good example w/ LS5 now sporting the original engine yet was only matching #'s in description above.:hmmm:
:beers:
