Why NOS parts are NOS

Just got in from installing an NOS manual antenna on my 64 Belair..the original was removed . Finally fished the damn cable thru the cowl..(PITA) assembled it all and went to put the top not onto the base...and it wouldn't thread on...brand new flawless antenna...I took the nut off and guess what...it was never threaded https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif. Probably why it made it to some pile of new parts somewhere. Anyone got a crappy old antenna nut for a 64 Chev laying around !! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

Bob,

------All the ones I have been able to dig up quickly have the six (6) indents. Ill dig a bit deeper into the pile tomorrow and see what I can find. Didnt think you would throw me a curve with the nut pictured (one notch on either side).........Bill S

Re: Why NOS parts are NOS

Bill...this was in the box NOS accesory...that doesn't mean the nut is the same as factory...I think the 6 notch is correct for some reason
