1966 427 caprice 2 door value????
I know the whereabouts of a 1966 427 2 door caprice in a surrounding town. The car is the gold color with a black vinyl top, has to small dents in it. Been garaged since new, got the 427 badges on it, protecto plate, bucket seats, console, automatic on floor, am radio, real clean old car ... any ideas what this could be worth?????

If it's a non-air car and not in need of rust repair, I'd be interested.

Re: 1966 427 caprice 2 door value????
Hi trevor70ss,
The 427 Caprices can pull some decent money. Obviously there are some things that will effect the price. Do you know if it still has the original drivetrain? From what you described it has the 427/390hp (L36) engine it backed with a turbo 400. RPO L72 was not available with auto trans. To give you an idea on production numbers, out of 1,292,452 full size cars built in 1966 only 3,287 cars had the L36 option. Unfortunately how many were Caprices, etc. is not known. Chevrolet didn't track things that detailed. I've seen clean, original, 427/390hp Caprices sell easily for over 10k. Even some clean 396 cars are pulling over 10k. Sometimes it depends on who's buying it. You know, how badly somebody wants it. Having documentation and options will only add to the value. I just got a book from a friend. It's a CPI Collectible Vehicle Value Guide. It lists 2-door Caprice Custom Coupes in #2 condition as being $12,250.00. #3 condition $6,450.00. This book didn't say anything about engine options. Another source I found shows a #2 car at $8,875.00 and #3 car at $5,875.00. Add in the 427/390hp (add 70%), bucket seats w/console (add 10%). A #2 car would be $15,975.00 and #3 car would be $10,575.00. That gives you a range to think about. See if you can find out about the drivetrain and any other options on it.
