Gatornationals Set to Kick Off NHRA Camping World Series in 2023

Rumors have been circling about major changes in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing schedule, and those were confirmed with the release of the first four competition dates for next season. Cutting right to it: The 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, held at Gainesville Raceway, will serve as the season kickoff over the weekend of March 9-12.

NHRA officials cited more efficient travel logistics as a motivator to make these adjustments, marking the second time in company history that the Gatornationals served as the season opener. The legacy event in Florida served as the season opener for the 2021 season due to the global pandemic. The Gatornationals will include the Pep Boys All Stars Top Fuel Callout as well as all four professional categories—Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
