Default What size Torque Thursts and tires on '68 Camaro??

Hey guys.......I'm working on a '68 Camaro for a customer and she, yes she , wants me to get a set of new Torque Thrusts and tires for it.......I want the tallest and widest tire for the rear that WILL NOT rub and a little narrower tire for the front that's as tall as possible and NOT rub either........

What do you guys recommend?? Have any pics you can post??

Thanks,

Personally I like 15x8 out back and 15X6 up front. I like L60's in the rear and E or F-70's in the front. I also like RWL tires.

If you are going to radials. I put 15x7 TTO'S on a 1970 Nova I had with 225/70/15 up front and 255/60/15 in back and I did not roll the rear lip. If these will fit a Nova these should will fit a 67-68 Camaro. Before then I had 15x7 T70Rs that ended up on a 67 Camaro with one size smaller tires front and back. These wheels have a little more offset to the inside and there was no rubbing. You could go to the larger size tires with no problem.

Yeah, we're going with radials......Those look nice on the Nova.......she wants to be able to throw her kids in the back and not scrub the tires......and be able to turn tight and not scrub......Thanks for the pics.......

The 15x7 T70Rs were sold to Jeff-San and he had the white SS/RS 67 Camaro for sale in the "Cars for sale section" here. I think he has one picture listed so take a look before you decide because the extra offset to the inside helped get the tires in the fenders. I was not a fan of the shiny wheels on my blue car but that is just my taste and I always prefer the TTOs. To be safe I went with 225/65/15 in the front and 245/60/15 in the rear. but there was room for more tire.

You might need to ask Jeff to confirm the tire sizes on the Camaro but the wheels were 15x7. The rear tires were P245/60/15 and I think the fronts were either P215/65/15 or P225/65/15 but I would have gone with a little taller tire. The T70R has the right offset for the early Camaros and the D-spokes are close also. I ran P225/60/15 on 15X7 TTOs on the front of a 69 Camaro before and ended up with a bunch of rubbing and had to polish the early calipers to clear the back of the spokes.

That car looks awesome........What is a "T70R"??? I'm assuming that's a different version of the Torque Thrust?? I'm assuming that the offset is pulled in more than a regular Torque Thrust??

This is a friend of mine's car below.......It's got 15X7 wheels on front and back........with 205-65-15's on front and 225-70-15's on back........I like the rear, but the front needs to be taller IMHO, but he says that he's had taller tires on it and they rub at the back of the wheel opening, so I'm gun shy of trying anything taller/wider so that's why I'm here, hoping someone has a narrower wheel or different offset on the front which will allow a taller tire..........

Back in the day, I had a 68 Z28 and put TT's on it that were 15 by 7 with F70's and they rubbed on the front. Dropped back to E70's and they still hit the bright aluminum trim around the front opening. I notched it at the top and no further problem. Back was not a problem with the F70's.

The T70R is a American 5-spoke that was made for a short period of time then reproduced recently. It has a little bit of a flange on the edge of the spokes and it has more offset to the inside than the TTO 5-spokes.
