I have a brother-in-law, and his brother, who are big car enthusiasts.

They have probably five or six between the two of them, ranging from completely blown apart to roadworthy.

The BB car was more expensive, usually had to be ordered with a package, (Impala) or was a stripped (Belair, Biscayne) for the performance guy.

Really is hard to define, Why there are no B body BB cars left. Not everybody wanted a Camaro, Chevelle. This was a time of bigger families, 3-4 kids, Mom stayed home etc.

Interesting conversation on the "whys"
The Muscle Car Era was ALL about who was buying cars . . . the Younger Generation. These buyers were new. That's why the companies rushed to put out muscle cars - to capture these brand new kind of buyers.

Prior to 1964 you could get high performance engines in cars. 413, 406, 409 with dual quads or tri-power. But those weren't "Muscle Cars."

You had to have a hood treatment, Redline tires, chrome exhaust tips, lots of badges and most important - a catchy name. GTO, 442, Super Sport, GT and R/T. It was ALL about marketing.

You're father bought an Impala. You wanted a Camaro.

1967 was a watershed year for Muscle Cars. More new models were added - more than any other year prior to or after.

Sure - a 1966 L72 427 Biscayne could probably beat 90% of all the Muscle Cars on the Street. Who cared? It looked like Mom's Grocery Getter!

And that's why BB full size cars didn't sell.

What people are collecting today does not reflect what they bought when said cars were brand new.

Lee...Good analysis. we're on the same page now. I didn't see that "angle". But that is correct, those were the start up years for Pony cars.

Thanks
