Default Hit the jackpot today

Iv gotta share with you guys something that happened to me over the weekend. My brother in law calls me last week and asked me if I was interested in all his big block chevy stuff. I go over and take a peek 2 70 402 blocks and 3 sets of 1972 oval port 781 heads and 1 Gm forged standard crank. We agree on a price (might as well gave it to me) and as we are loading it up I'm already thinking why are you buying this stuff. On my way home I figure Ill just relist it all make a few bucks and be done with it.

So as Im unloading it all I take pictures and list it all in separate ads. Today I have a local guy reach out and asked me if I would be interested in trading one set of my 781’s for his 69 840’s. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.I ask him why he would want to do such a thing and he says these 840’s are to big for my build. Claims they were completely rebuilt using stainless valves new springs and guides. Still in disbelief I ask when he would like to meet up and look at each other’s parts he replies back right now. We meet up his 840 heads are perfect as are my 781’s . He looks my 781’s over and says yup exactly what i need and says if im interested in his 840’s it’s a deal. Then he says your clearly making out but the 840’s are just to big and worthless to me.

As they say over on the Garage Journal: You suck.

BTW, that's a compliment, just in case you did not know.

Some days we would rather be lucky than good, right?

Honest and reasonable. A good trade that both benefit from.

Good trade. However, the brother-in-law got the short end of the stick for near nothing, unless he knew or expected you to flip them for a profit.

Brother in law knew my intentions and told me he just wanted the chevy stuff gone. He's a ford guy and had been dragging the stuff around for years and was just done with it. In fact we agreed on a price and after loading it up he tried to give the stuff to me and I declined and payed him.
