Shalla
Our 1967 Camaro RS/SS L78 coupe was purchased new by my father at Dick Shalla Chevrolet in Detroit. It is one of the first 396/375 L78 Camaros ever produced. Car is originally white with a black interior, fold down rear seat, 4 speed transmission and vinyl top.
Dad raced the car at local tracks like Detroit Dragway, Windsor Dragway and MotorCity Dragway. He sold the car, less power train, in 1971. The car changed hands one more time a few years after and was raced with a 12 point cage and small block until the early 90s. Dad and I found the car entirely by accident on display at the 1989 Detroit Autorama. The third owner kept the original interior and every other little detail of the car in storage. Not too long after we bought the car back. The car has been kept 100% solid except the floors were replaced to return the shell back to a stock setup and the roll cage has been removed. This 17 year restoration has gone as slow as they come, but we do plan to put the car on the road. Joe Lopez |

Re: Shalla
Do you own the car now? How long have you owned it? Current photos?

Looks like Phil just wanted to share your pic and story but just copied and pasted it without an explanation.
Love to hear more about the car, history AND current state. |

Dad bought the car back in 1992 or so, it's been a track car it's entire life. Original L78 is long gone, we are currently putting the car back together. It's a pretty cool story Here's a cliffnotes version on Team Camaro: http://www.camaros.net/forums/26-tec...tml#post353537 |

Reviving an old post here.
Overanxious , its a great story on getting your Dads car back. Can your Dad share any light on this other Red 67 RS SS Camaro 396 badges . also sporting SHALLA CHEVROLET sponsorship? I see Detroit Mike on the lower front fender section. |
