I think the no reserve % fee should be 5% instead of 8%. A 2% savings for no reserve isn't that much. If the price to sellers was halved I think it would encourage more no reserve sellers.

Guys I might have missed this in this long thread. I am reading Automobile Magazine April 2003 issue and they have a "On the Block" section that has a couple of Barrett Jackson highlights. They feature a 1969 COPO. Here is the article verbatim.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro. S/N 124379N640481, engine 10423MN. Hugger Orange over black vinal. Central Office Production Order (COPO) installed 427-cubic-inch, 425 horse power V8 four speed. Dog-dish hubcaps, Z28 dual exhaust, 140-mph speedometer, cowl induction hood. Numbers matching, fully documented. restored to a very high standard.

Sold at $56,100. At the height of muscle-car madness, COPO Camaros were just about the baddest boys on the block. Only 1,000 were made but since they are so easy to fake, there are probably twice that many replica COPO's running around today. The value with this car was the combination of it's documented heritage and it's high quality restoration. Another $5,000 wouldn't have been suprising.

Guys doesn't that sound awfully cheap? I would think that in today's market that a COPO Camaro in that color if in fact it was "restored to a very high standard" and is "documented" would have brought more money. Does anybody have any info on this car? Did any of you see this car at the auction?

Frank, I think that is from the Barrett Jackson Auction last year. If you search this site around the end of Jan last year I think there is discussion about this car. Reggie had an orange COPO there last year but I thought it brought a little more money than that. Jim

Jim I would be suprised if the car was from last year. Why would they feature a Jan 2002 auction in April of 2003 when they just had a auction at Barret Jackson in Jan 2003? In that article the Nash Bridges Cuda was featured along with the Elanor Mustang that they said sold for $194,000 when I saw it roll through at I think $167,000? Frank, that is the same car that was just seen at the AC auction and a lot of people find it very questionable. That would explain the price.

Frank,
The sales prices from Barrett are quoted with the 8% buyers premium.

The orange COPO was not at Barrett Scottsdale this year. Maybe the Monterrey Auction? Jim

I'd have to agree with Jim, I don't remember seeing an Orange COPO at B-J this year.

Frank,

I just looked at my April Hemmings, and they show a Hugger Orange COPO that sold for $56,100 at the January R-M auction in Phoenix. They say it had once been owned by Boyd Coddington. Being at the R-M auction would explain why no one saw it at B-J! With all the auctions they hold down there in the span of a couple weeks, it gets confusing.
