In 1949, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce began a contract with the City of Los Angeles Parks Department to repair and rebuild the sign. The contract stipulated that "LAND" be removed to spell "Hollywood" and reflect the district, not the "Hollywoodland" housing development

UPDATE: Lee's Health

Saw Dr. Rebecca. Was concerned that I might have either a blood clot or a collapsed vein in my right leg. Made a few phone calls, pulled some strings and got me an immediate ultrasound appointment. Did the whole up and down the leg with the US thingee and low and behold . . . no clot, veins are fine. Once again my Lymphoma has reared it's head . . . I have an infection in my leg.

You have to understand that when that's the prognosis it's like telling the average person he has a pimple. No Big Deal. I have on hand at all times at least a 2 weeks supply of heavy duty antibiotics. I get infections like you guys get the sniffles. So once again a horse pill every 12 hours for at least a week. Have another appt. this Thursday for a follow-up. Dr. said the swelling should begin to go down in 2 or 3 days.
