'68 Z, Power Windows
What do you guys make of the engine stamp? Can't say I have ever seen broach marks quite like that - they don't even look to be parallel - maybe it's the angle of the picture?

It’s amusing that the seller draws attention to the “broach” marks in the auction description as a sign of authenticity….

I guess he was trying to help us out since most car guys don't know what broach marks are or have any type of mechanical background..lol..

Those are not factory "broach" marks. He also references a post on Camaros.net. Easy enough to go to that post and put up his pad stamping pic noting that this is an example of what fake, made up broach marks look like.

I'm pretty sure that broached surface is machined in the same operation as the surface where the head gasket is supposed to seal to the block.....can you imagine a gasket trying to seal against that surface?
