Default 67 Elco L78 Deepwater over bright blue.

Jeff Helms' car - these are photos from the AACA Spring Charlotte meet- he got his First junior there and this past weekend at the AACA Fall National meet he got his First Senior-
You won't find a better restored car or more attention paid to details than Jeff... we talked for a while at Charlotte and then again for a while in Greenville, he pulled me aside and said, you will appreciate this and pointed out the runs in the black paint on the rad support from being dipped etc. Also I noted correct wiper bottle screw caps.
He also had door panels made the way there were done by GM. They have blocks of fiber board glued into the positions of the raised areas and then the "actual surface" is stretched down and thermally bonded in low points, creating sharp distinct breaks VS raising areas by filling the void with foam... drag your fingers across an original and they go thump thump thump. drag them across Jeff's... same thing thump thump thump. I think he said a year to get the pair done.

Could a moderator move this to the L78 Forums...

Perfection indeed, not just white glove perfection, but painstaking duplication of factory assembly methods and quirks!!
Duplication of the paint runs on the INTERIOR side of the firewall and other hidden areas that would never be seen once assembly completed. Exact duplication of the roof insulation, then covered by the headliner. Or the frame being hung on end from a crane to duplicate factory paint runs. Or creating templates to duplicate Tonawanda paint masking of the intake and valve covers. (Can be seen on one of James's pix). The detail goes on and on.

Jeff sets the bar on restoring a vehicle to exacting factory finishes and assembly processes. He goes above and beyond with the most minute detail and backs it up with chapter and verse description.

I've seen this car twice, once while still being built and once after completed. It's amazing.

----I must have spent half an hour (not enough time) looking this beauty over at MCACN. Everyone who has been to the show knows just how much there is to see and a half an hour is a long time in that arena. I noticed a lot of the details that you could see and figured out that the parts you can't see are similarly done!....Bill S

Thanks, James, for posting, and thanks to you and everyone else for the kind words! It is far, far from "perfect", but I think it did come out pretty good... Thanks again!
