Default 396 427 66-67 Cal smog help.

Anyone know what application this bracket on the diverter is for? Valve # is 33547 which seems to be for 66-67 BB Corvette, maybe others, but didn't the Corvette and Camaro have a small half moon cradle on the valve cover that took a Wittek clamp, not the bracket in the pic?

Don't know about other applications, but that bracket is used on '67 Chevelle L35 396, retained by the coil bracket bolt closest to the dist. It is NOT used on '67 Chevelle L34, which has the half moon bracket on the valve cover..

The valve assembly is part number 7033547 found in parts group 3.670

Says it fits '67 Chevelle and Camaro 396 except H/Perf

Not sure if it fits Corvette. I would have to locate my Corvette parts book to be sure.

Bill W, did the all L35s have painted valve covers, maybe the half moon bracket was only on the chrome, or high HP motors?

All '67 SS 396 Chevelles had chrome valve covers regardless of HP rating. I believe that is true of 396 Camaros also. L35 big cars (B-body) had painted covers.

Here is the BB valve cover you are referring to, this one is the HP version with the dripper's, but I have personally seen the non-dripper version at Corvette's at Carlisle a couple years ago, it was a complete A.I.R. CA only smog setup off a 67 427-390 HP with non dripper chrome valve covers.

The only "427" 1967 Corvettes that came from the factory with chrome valve covers were the L88 and L89 engines.

So what you are suggesting is that my valve cover shown in the pic would have been on a HP CA A.I.R 67 Camaro Chevelle being it has the drippers.

My bad. You are correct. It is L89 only that has Chrome valve covers for 1967 Corvettes.
