Interesting that it has the second design hood stacks, rather than the grilles. Did Yenko change those before the sale, or is that an owner change ? My understanding was the grilles were carried over into the early '68 model, to use them up, so even though this car sold in March '68, it should have had the grilles from the factory ?

Other than that, this Camaro is about the most beautiful car I've seen posted here....sorry '69ers... The '67 rs model has always been my favorite.

the car was missing the hood when it was first shown to John , the original owner. He had Yenko install a 1968 hood. The hood was originally Corvette Bronze and is thought to be off a 1968 Yenko Camaro.

here is a nice youtube vid on YS-760

so two cars claim to be the first Yenko 427 Camaro.

One build date seems too early and the other too late.
I have not seen any documentation that shows the first Yenko 427 Camaro.

There is a third car that may be the first built.

The early ads show what I think is a Butternut Yellow black top SS RS. There is a Dec. 1966 vin number but not sure if it is the BY SS RS black top car.

Yenko was sending out 427 Camaro info to his dealer network in late 1966.
This info contained a photo of the black top SS RS with side pipes, 427 emblems, and mag style wheel covers.

Yenko may not have had a 427 car built by Dec. 66 but how long can he promote the car before someone would want to see it and test drive it?

I don't think Yenko could put off showing a real 427 car until March of 67.

attached the photo used on many early ads

attached a letter from Span Inc. signed by James Spencer where he replies to a dealer with info on the Yenko 427 Camaro.
This letter is dated Dec. 29, 1966.

This is all fantastic info, so much to learn. Not to go off topic but I was going through my notes and was wondering if anyone knows the YS# of Kevin Suydams blue/blue 67 Yenko Camaro, saw it at Carlisle when it was restored a couple of years ago. Thank you everyone, one of the best parts of this site is the wealth of information that is shared

Wow, cobwebs are vibrating !!! I recall hearing about this car back then. I didn't remember which dealer had it, but at the time, we were like " what the heck is a Yenko" ??? No internet or cell phones with pics to distribute back then. Word of mouth on the street was about it. Never did get down to Lake Street to look at it.
