Default LS6 Chevelle Race car since new

On another thread started by member mrays that I was following
https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=130572
GrumpyJeff and DW31S were discussing a car named Tasmanian Devil,
a 70 Chevelle LS6 that was bought new from Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne PA to go drag racing.
https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...130572&page=45
Last week I had to take a ride up to the Wilkes-Barre PA area to drop off and pick up some cylinder heads. On the way back I stopped in Numedia PA where NHRA was holding a Division 1 points race in conjunction with a National Open. As luck would have it while walking through the pits there was the autumn gold Tasmanian Devil car. The current owner Rich was a great guy. Here are a few pictures I took.
I took a few other pictures while walking through the pits that I’ll post in the Pit Area-Racing Forum.

What a original beauty off the show room. Great Chevelle. Aluminum head LS6 to boot. How quick was this car in the Quarter Mile? I see the wheelie bar mounted also.

Quick car for its heavy weight. Those LS6 engines were torque monsters and plenty of horsepower to move those big Chevelle's.

Anyone else notice the small block tach? Must have been a factory error. My 1970 L78 came the same way. I guess broadcast code 983 vs. 938 easy to confuse on a busy assembly line.
