So....

-Body number is between two known Yenkos, converted 427 cars?
-Owner can get NCRS info, find out which dealer took delivery. Is it unlikely it was Dale based on what you guys are saying? Car could have sold used obviously through Dale too.
-The holes in back might be correct for Yenko badging, and the holes that were welded up in front indicated it had different front badging in its past
-Owner has yet to verify or share pics of fuel line.
-Owner can also sand down rear and look for the code on there, 4.10 something like that.
-What about the cluster, would the cluster be different for a converted car?

Is this photo at Dale Chevrolet?

someone posted that it is from Braeger Chev ?

I found an old photo of Braeger and a ad from Dale 1969 advertising 1969 427s

it is early in the investigation of this car so some conflicting info is coming out.

I think it will take some time to get all the info correct , and paperwork , photos, etc

I searched for the Viking Funny car on a FC site and didn't find it but found the Dale Super Hugger run by Bernie Adams from Milwaukee, WI.
I lived a few miles from Braeger in 1969 and am virtually certain that is where that photo was taken. They were the first 'Mega Dealership' in the area, located in a former department store. Not really a performance dealership but sold a lot of everything, including performance cars. Have the pop from a Garnet Red L78/M22/ZL2 Camaro sold there. Still in the same location today.

The circa 1962 photo is the former location, when Bob Braeger and Jim King were partners. They parted about that time, Jim King opening a small dealership in a residential area on the SE side of Milwaukee. Showroom still there. The former King-Braeger store is now an Auto Zone.

There are four known cars on the 69 Yenko Nova VIN list on this site that were built the first week of January. I believe they are all documented as being 427 transplant cars. Their body numbers are 254952, 254954, 254956 and 254965. Since this cars body number is 254955 it looks like it was likely ordered by Yenko as well. The NCRS paperwork will just show which dealership the car was shipped to, not which dealership actually sold the car. If this car comes back as being shipped to Yenko, the next step would be to try to find out what dealership it was sold new through. Just because the VIN is on the list on this site doesn't mean it is a 427 transplant car.

For as long as I can remember 37 has been used as the number of 69 Yenko Novas built. I don't know where that number came from. I believe there are 25 VINS on the list on this website. It's my understanding that this VIN list is of the L78 Novas that Yenko ordered. Only a handful of these cars were 427 transplant cars. I believe all the VINS on this site are for cars built the first week of January or the second week of April. The one exception is the Nutmeg Metallic car which was built later. There are several known cars whose VIN's are on the list that were sold new as L78 cars as verified by their original owners.

Whether shipped w/ 427 or not, it'll be surprising if NCRS result is anything but Yenko as Myron noted above.
It could've been Hult sold new as William said, here's one in an Old Newspaper Ad immediately below also other Yenko 427 Nova ads close proximity wise selling used over the years?

There's a few more 427 Nova ads in this 12/20 thread but color wrong or too far away to be as likely...
https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...=148069&page=5

Is it possible Dale sold this example as a new leftover after becoming a Yenko Dealer?
If not, it may've acquired the badge when sold there used as the Yellow '69 427 Nova in the 10/70 Ad waaay below?

:beers

Were the 427 transplant Novas available at other dealers?

Did Yenko badge up L78 Novas?

Back in the 1980s, Vince E. said he had a list of 37 1969 L-78 Novas that Yenko ordered and about 30 of them were converted to 427.

As far as I know, the production number of 427 Yenko Novas has always been about 30.
For some reason, many people use 37 as the production total of Yenko 427 Novas but it was always 30.

The list of 37 is thought to be a list for Yenko Sportscars which in some ways was separate from Yenko Chevrolet.

Over the last 30 years there have been other 1969 L-78 Novas that have been found that were sold by Yenko and are not on the 37 vin list.

So we know Yenko had more then 37 1969 L-78 Novas.

I can think of 7 1969 L-78 Novas sold by Yenko that are not on Vince's 37 list.

Cars that I heard of are; one each of a red, blue, black, brown, fathom green, and 2 rally green.
There were probably more then 7 1969 L-78 Novas sold by Yenko in addition to the 37 vin list cars.
