Never seen one of these before,used in Firebirds too.

That's a rarely seen filler panel for the U57 tape player when no console is ordered. Second photo shows how it looked.

Second filler piece is shorter than the first one, and it looks like it is actually the mounting bracket as opposed to a non-structural filler plate like the first one. Is the difference 68 versus 67? (Knobs on second MPX are 68). Or is the difference MPX versus 8-track?
