Default Augie Pabst

https://www.jsonline.com/obituaries/pwix0969765

Augie was a racer from a bygone era, where much of the excitement was off the track. Obviously well-connected, he owned one of the 1967 Camaro Cherokee show cars. It hung around the area for many years, less the Weber carbs. A fixture at Road America, I asked him about the carbs; said no one could get it to run properly.

They don't make them like that anymore!

Augie was local to me, and a customer to one of my old stores. A class act for certain.

RIP Augie

How sad. I would see him in his Scarab at Road America and it was always the most beautiful car at the Vintage Races. He could even drive a Ford Falcon into a pool in Monterey on a bet.

The story starts with the last paragraph in the first column. Some pictures from his book, also.
