What’s on your Build Sheet. Did you keep, your orig battery? Owners manual and GM service manual may help too. Some have pics. Build sheet is the best, it’ll have the #.

[QUOTE which topper is correct for an 86 Grand National?

1985 & 86 both used the 104, ( 1981104) for the 3.8 L, the 296 (1981296) as an optional battery for the 3.8 LT * note the last 3 are the callout on the battery, We do both. Both toppers are for a 78 series. You may have to modify the plastic top hold down, since it fits a smaller battery . I see a repop of the plastic hold down for 86 & 87 are for under $25, look at your hold down. I’d modify a repop, save your orig. I can’t refund shipping.

Through the month of Dec, I’ll offer a sale here on YSC, toppers for $65, your choice, 3 blues and 2 blacks to pick from, plus $15 priority ship w/ insc. And I’ll toss in a freedom glove box brochure with this Xmas special! ( $10 value, 30-40$ for nOS PCs)
Hard to find pc of orig paperwork,
( all toppers fit a 78 series battery, smaller batteries have a slight overhang)

I was told that interstate discontinued the white case battery’s, I just saw this on a search the other day, I’ll look into this, I’ll take a topper to a battery shop and see the fitment on this battery. It looks to be 3 times the price of a 6 yr battery. These whit cases were used till around 1985.
