While I think from the pics that it's repairable, the problem may be with the insurance co's. Have you had it appraised so you have a value established? If not, they may treat it as a "old camaro". That is bad news as the cost to repair will exceed their value of the car. Should that happen, demand the ability to buy it back from the insurance co. for salvage cost. Otherwise they will take the entire car after what they believe is a fair payout.
Good luck.

Chuck,
I hope it's not the case with your car, but relying on anothers insurance company to cover our vintage cars is dangerously risky at best. An agreed upon value with a $ZERO dollar deductable for any damage, fire, theft or vandlism is the only way to sleep at night and drive the car without worry. I know we have insurance brokers who sponser sYc and they probably represent Hagerty or another company that provides this coverage for a very reasonable cost.

Everyone should make sure your policy covers every possible event and verify your value when renewing each year.

Good Luck with the repairs, glad you are OK.

I am fairly paranoid when I am driving one of my cars. There's always at least one dumb SOB out there and one day they'll find me! My head is on a swivel constantly but sometimes the bas*tards catch you when you can't avoid it.

Yeah, you are taking it far better than I would! I would be murderous.

Your all wrong, they have to settle at ACV "actual cash value" which is replacement cost minus depreaction. None of these cars are in NADA books so they will have to go to a Appraisal type book showing the real value.

All stated amount does is put a limit on the value of your car which is what you don't want.

The problem I've found is establishing that ACV. My CPI value guide shows a 72 ss 350 camaro at three levels. Fair#4 at 7600.00, good#3 @13575.00, and excel #2 @20600.00. That's based on a standard, non modified car. The issue usually is, who decides the level, and, what about any mods. Also, there's usually a pissing match over NOS, vrs off shore sheet metal, depending if it matters to you. Most ins. companies won't cover the extra for NOS. And there's sometime an issue over paint match due to age, or a custom blend.
Part of the problem is that they send you to a collision body shop, that has little experience with classic cars, vrs one that deals in classic restorations.
Now, you knowing these cars, makes a big difference on how a claim would be handled vrs, say a Geico, or Progressive.
While you may disagree, I still think if you have an established value, with a well written appraisal, noting for example that the car has original sheetmetal, or other pieces/modifications that legitimize you requesting say, NOS sheetmetal replacement vrs off shore, or a NOS rad shroud, you stand a better chance of forcing the issue if the ins. co. says no.
