anyone want to guess which other dealer might have sold two CG deuces?

[/ QUOTE ]

My guess would be Colonial, in Norfolk VA.

[/ QUOTE ]

YEP, they sold it in April/May of '71 - but there was another deuce sold even later than this

A red automatic from Capitol was the last one sold, right?

That was the last one produced (per body number), but from the info we have not the last one sold.

you sure about that? Whats the date the last one sold? I have a letter from Capitol with a very late date on it stating the red Deuce was still in their inventory well into 71...I was thinking it was you who told me it was the last one ever sold.

I don't know when the Capitol red car was sold - somebody won't cough up a copy of it However, the last one sold per our info was sometime in October of '71 - at a very reduced price!!

Some time back I remember us looking at a drivers side photo posted or linked by someone of a Citrus deuce sitting in a driveway and wondering if it was real or not. I believe it was from the same area in Illinois... It was a recent photo. I'll have to dig thru the search... You remember this M? When discussing the photo we did reference that it was not Bob's car...

[/ QUOTE ]

I have been told by a friend that the father of the young man that has the Yenko Deuce in Ottawa, Il now says it is a clone. I will find out for sure.
Now that I know the one that I started the thread about is accounted for here is some info.
James Ohlendorf ( the tall lanky kid in the 2nd photo) was the second owner of the car. A guy named Bomgarts bought in new I believe at Lehman's. He hit a mailbox with it and somehow Jim's dad (owner of Ottawa engine ended up with the car and it eventually went to Jim). Jim raced it a few times at Oswego and ran some 12.70's spinning the tires hard through first.
I am going to see Jim this weekend and I am going to see if he has any interesting stuff on the car.

Yes, it was the one in Morris. After I heard about the deuce at Morris car show I started digging and found the car in Ottawa. From then until a couple of weeks ago I have been trying to find out if it was real or not. I am going to get over to his house when it warms up and I will get the VIN to confirm.

I was mistaken Marlin... the letter from Capitol is dated Sept. 30, 1970... I was thinking it was Sept. 71. Hard to keep track of everything in the ol' memory database.
