Default Blinding headlights

Interesting read.
I thought it was just me. Apparently not.

It's not just you, Lynn. I recently drove 3,400 miles R/T to FL and back and the headlights get worse every year. The newer vehicles with the LED lights that don't diffuse are a white laser hitting the eyes. The left side mirror becomes useless too as those lights blind a person just as bad when they are behind. I have that mirror pointed down and out away from the car most of the time. Damn near need sunglasses to drive at night in this country anymore.

Back in October of last year I posted this in my thread. This is the answer - reposition the headlights:

The 2024 GMC Sierra EV has something unique: the position on the front of the truck for it's headlights. To reduce glare for oncoming traffic

Interesting, I had a new GM sedan come down a freeway ramp beside me tonight and pull in behind. The round lights in the normal head light position were turn signals and DRL's. The headlights were very low, like this truck. And they didn't blind me in the mirror. Maybe someone IS listening...

With blind side hangers that want to stay right in that location next to me, I can sometimes get it angled just right to reflect back in their eyes. I can tell when I hit that spot, as they usually speed up quickly...

Probably .01% of the people out there put brighter lights into their late model vehicles. But seems to me that .01% are truck owners.

I'd be overjoyed if I could do away with the DRL's on my 02 Impala. The cop car versions don't have DRL's burning 24/7, but Chevy refuses to let the general public know how to get it done.

There isn't a law that requires them either.....
