Default Big Al's Toy Box.

Can I ask this here? Anybody ever purchase anything from Big Al's Toy Box in Connecticut. I heard he passed some time ago. Someone on the Gassers and Drag Racing Cars and Parts for Sale (Brian Sabia) is selling parts on Facebook associated with Big Al's Toy Box relatively inexpensive and I was curious if this is a scam or legit. Thanks.

I didn't know Al passed. I Remembered seeing his displays at Carlisle years back. He certainly built some Awesome engines.

He passed Sept 2020. He still has an open site on Facebook. I saw someone selling nice parts, but as usual I wanted to find out if it was a scam, and that's when I found he's been gone since 2020. I figured members here may have done business with him in the past.

I spoke to Big Al "JR" today and bought two new in boxes Auto Meter oil and temp gauges from him at $35.00 each. He was telling me he's in the process of liquidating inventory and asked me to pass the word on to everyone I could. He did seem very busy at the time I spoke with him and he gave me his cell number to text what I needed so he would have a hard copy of what he needs to ship. Business number is 860-354-3238.

Here is the link to his Facebook page if anyone is interested. https://www.facebook.com/bigalstoybox/

Seriously, I was a little leery about buying and thought the FB ad was a scam, but JR said it is legit.

I remember when he would fire up an engine at Carlisle, you heard it no matter where you were. Then seeing them in person was cool. BIG ENGINES!!

Do they have any current listings of what they have for sale posted anywhere?

I just happen to stumble on their ad while looking at a few of the vintage speed equipment sites on Facebook. It was one of these four links below. I'm looking now to see if I can find it. Thing change pretty face on these sites.

On this link the name to look for is Brian Sabia.

I used to look forward to hearing those engines fire up at Stafford Springs Swap Meet every year. I have personally experienced 2 Big Al's Toy Box engines. One was a 540 BBC with an 871 blower on it in a 63 Galaxy, which was then put into a 55 Chevy gasser after a cam and carb swap, and a 350 SBC with a 671 blower on it in a light weight T-Bucket. And both those engines were STRONG, for lack of a better description. Scary strong.
