Default Vintage slotted mags..talk to me about offset

I currently have on my 1969 corvette (Big Mike thread) 3 vintage Ansen slotted mags. I’m missing one mag on the front.
All are 15x10.
Looking on EBay, I notice they always mention offset and I think it means how far off the hub?

I did locate a set of vintage Indy Mag slotted rims but I have no idea what the off set is and frankly, what the ideal offset should be.
The Indys are 15x10 and 15x8
The corvette is flared and I’m trying to figure out what the ideal tire and rim combo would be for a Motion conversion corvette.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

Clearly Ansen Sprint mags.
Is that a date code?
Mods, if I’m in the wrong section please feel free to move this thread or maybe it should be merged with my initial thread on my car….

Offset I believe is a measurement of how removed the hub mounting surface is from the center of the wheel, i.e. a 0 offset 15x10 would have 5” of wheel width on either side of the plane of the inside mounting surface. Most modern wheels have positive offset (toward the wheel face) while most vintage mags for RWD car seem to have negative offset (or “deep dish”. This resulted in little interference with brakes/suspension/frame, but usually meant death to fender well lips. Backspacing is a measurement of the mounting surface to the inside edge of the rim. On the front of a Vette, you’ll want to mimic the backspacing of the original 15x8’s, but depending on the tires you want to run, you’re just going to have to do a lot of measuring and you’ll probably be challenged by the offset options given to you buy vintage wheels with big tires.

Default Offset v. backspacing

I have not verified that this chart is correct. I have no reason to believe it is not; just have not verified.

Not having any 10 inch slots here, so take this for what it's worth.....the 15x8.5" slots all had the same backspace of 3.25"AFAIK, so it's possible that all 10s had a common BS of their own??
